Advanced Weiss Schwarz Terminologies Compiled by: Mark Gayas and Ted So

General

Refresh – shuffle all your cards from waiting room once your deck has run out (take 1 damage)

Free-fresh – shuffle all your cards from waiting room and any cards left in deck (no damage, conditions apply)

Salvage – getting a card from the Waiting Room (numerous conditions can trigger this effect)

EN – refers to a English set

JP – refers to a Japanese set

Search – getting a card from the deck (numerous conditions can trigger this effect)

Mill – putting cards from the top of your deck to Waiting Room (effects that require milling a card)

Overplay – refers to placing a card from your Hand or from Waiting room into Stage on top of one of your characters.

Compression – refers to having a clean number of stock (no climaxes).

Discard/Ditch – refers to putting a card from hand into the waiting room

Counter/Punch – refers to Backups

Rest – refers to putting your character sideways for effects or attacks.

Reversed refers to a character who is to be sent to the waiting room.

Climax Terminologies

Pants – refers to a climax that when triggered, put the triggered climax to stock and “salvage a climax in Waiting Room

Book – refers to a climax that when triggered, draw 1 card

Gate – refers to a climax that when triggered, returns a character (any character) from the Waiting Room

Standby – refers to a climax when triggered or place to Climax Zone, choose a character equal to or lower level than your current level +1

Wind – refers to a climax when triggered, you may choose 1 of your Opponent’s Characters and send it back to their Hand.

Shot/Blast/Fire – refers to a climax when triggered, when your current battling character’s damage gets cancelled, deal 1 damage to opponent.

Bar – refers to a climax when triggered, put the triggered climax back to Hand then place the top card of the deck to stock

Bag – refers to a climax when triggered, put the top card of deck into stock

Split 2k/Split3k 1 soul – refers to a climax that when placed on Climax Zone, you can choose up to two (2) characters and give them either 2k or 3k power and +1 soul

Stock Soul – refers to a climax that when placed on Climax zone allows the player to put a card of the same colour into their stock and then gives +1 soul to all characters

Character/Event Terminologies

Bombs

Bomb/Level Reverser – refers to a card that has the condition where if the opponents character has the same level or lower than this card, you may reverse it.

Clock Bomb – refers to a card that has the condition where if the opponents character has the same level or lower than this card, place the top card of your opponent’s clock zone into Waiting Room and place your Opponent’s Character in to his/her Clock Zone

Stock Bomb – refers to a card that has the condition where if the opponents character has the same level or lower than this card, put the bottom card of your opponent’s stock area to the Waiting room and place your opponent’s character at the top of his stock.

Bottom Deck Bomb – refers to a card that has the condition where if the opponents character has the same level or lower than this card, send your opponent’s character to the bottom of his/her deck.

Anti-change Bomb – refers to a card that has the effect when Reversed in battle, if this card’s battle opponent is higher level than your opponents’ current level, you may Reverse that character (some go bottom deck, stock, clock, and memory.)

Runners

Mill Runners – refers to a card that has the effect at the beginning of your opponents attack phase, “mill” the top card of your deck into Waiting Room, if that card is a character, you can move this card to an open position in your stage.

Free Runners – refers a card that has the effect at the beginning of your opponents attack phase, you can move this to an open position in your stage.

Stock Runners – refers to a card that has the effect of when a climax is placed on your opponent’s Climax Zone, you may send this card to your Stock.

Utility and Searching

Riki – refers to a card that has the effect of pay 1 clock 1, search for a level 1 or lower/cost 0 or lower card from your deck and add it to Hand.

Clean cut – refers to a card that has the effect of when this card’s battle opponent becomes reversed, you can choose 1 of your other characters, rest it, and place it on any open position in your back stage.

Drop Searcher – refers to a card that has the effect of pay 1 discard 1, search for a character (sometimes event cards too) in your deck and add it to Hand.

Asuza/Akatsuki – refers to a card that has the effect of either pay 1/discard 1 or both, when placed on Stage or Waiting Room from Stage, look up to a number of cards from top deck and choose 1 character among it, add it to Hand and place the rest into Waiting Room.

On death Asuza – refers to a card that has the effect of when Reversed, either pay 1/discard 1 or both, look at up to a number of cards from top deck, choose 1 character among it, add it to Hand and place the rest into Waiting Room.

Salvage brainstorm/Rimi brainstorm – refers to a card that has the brainstorm effect pay 1 rest this card, flip 4 cards for top deck into Waiting Room, for each climax revealed, salvage up to 1 character.

Early Shenanigans

Early Play – refers to a card that has the effect when the condition is met, you can place this card into Stage even if your level is lower than this card.

Early play killer/EP killer – refers to a card that has the effect that on attack/the character facing this card is a level 3 or higher, they get +X Power and +X soul.

Anti-Change – refers to effects that remove an early played character from the stage if the player has not reached that character’s level

Beyond Waiting Room

Clock shot – refers to a card that has the effect, when conditions are met, or just when this card’s battle opponent becomes Reversed, you may send that character to your opponent’s clock

Memory Kick – refers to a card that has the effect, when conditions are met, or just when this card’s battle opponent becomes Reversed, you may send that character to your opponent’s Memory Zone.

Game Enders and Anti Game Enders

Re-stander – refers to a card that has the effect, when conditions are met, you may re-stand your character.

Soul Wall – refers to a card that has the effect, when conditions are met, at the start of your opponents attack phase, choose up to 2 of your opponent’s characters and give them -X soul.

Wall – refers to a card that has the effect, when conditions are met, at the start of your opponent’s draw phase, you may choose 1 character and give it +4k Power.

Cockroach/(forgot the other term) – refers to a card like “Powered-up  Explosion Magic” Megumin” where when placed on Stage, you can place another character equal to or lower than your level to stage without cost.

Burn – refers to a card that has the effect when conditions are met, you get to deal up to a number of damage to your opponent.

On-cancel Burn – refers to a card that has the effect, give another character and herself/give another character, on cancel of damage, burn.

On-reveal Burn – refers to a card that has the effect, when conditions are met, reveal the top card, if its a character, burn up to a number of damage to your opponent.

Stock Swap – refers to a card that has the effect of placing all your opponent’s stock into waiting room and placing the same number of cards from your opponent’s top deck to stock.

Sunder – refers to the CXcombo of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann in which five attacks are performed

Musashi – refers to a cards that has a similar effect as the card named “2nd Yamato-class Battleship, Musashi”, during the turn its placed on stage, when damage is cancelled, deal 1 damage to opponent.

Hex Proof – refers to a card that has the effect of “this card cannot be chosen or targeted by your opponent’s effects.”

Hex Proof Assist – refers to a card that has the effect of giving a card the effect “this card cannot be chosen or targeted by your opponent’s effects.”

Backups

Split backup – refers to Asuna 1/0 backup that has the effect where choose 1 of your characters in battle gets +1k power and if you have 2 or more other Avatar or Net characters, you can choose 1 of your Characters and give it +1k power

Mill Backup – refers to a Backup that has the effect when this card’s backup is used (some has payment, some not), mill up to a number of cards from the top of your deck into Waiting Room.

Free-fresh Backup  – refers to a Backup that has the effect when this card’s backup is used, put all cards from your Waiting room back to Deck and shuffle it afterwards.

Anti-change Backup – refers to a Backup that has the effect when this card’s backup is used, when conditions are met, choose 1 of your opponent’s characters with a higher level than your opponent’s current level and send it either to Waiting Room or Deck.

Memory Kick Backup –  refers to a Backup that has the effect when this card’s backup is used, when choose 1 of your battling characters the effect where “when this card’s battle opponent becomes reversed, you may send that card to your opponents Memory Zone.

Leafa Backup – refers to a Backup that has the effect when this card’s backup is used, when conditions are met, reveal the top card of your deck, if its a character, add it to Hand.

Money Counter – refers to a Backup that has the effect, when conditions are met, choose 1 of your opponent’s characters and they cannot deal damage until end of the turn.

Rest Counter – refers to a Backup that has the effect, when conditions are met, choose 1 of your opponent’s character and rest it.
